Aces High ( Live )- Iron Maiden

Aces High fue escrita por Steve Harris, siendo el onceavo sencillo y el primer sencillo de Powerslave(1984).

Este disco fue grabado por los integrantes del grupo (Steve Harris, Bruce Dickinson, Nicko McBrain, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith) a raíz de unas vacaciones que pasaron en Egipto, ya que quedaron impresionados por la majestuosidad de las pirámides. La primera canción que apareció con esta temática fue Revelations (Piece of Mind), que se considera una protosecuela de Powerslave.

Este disco está basado en varias anécdotas que sucedieron a lo largo de la historia. Un ejemplo de esto es la primera canción del LP "Aces High" (Steve Harris), que esta dedicada a todos aquellos pilotos ingleses que murieron defendiendo Inglaterra de la invasión de la Alemania Nazi. También en este LP experimentaron la composición de las primeras canciones de larga duración como puede ser "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner".

Esta última pista, que todavía permanece como la más larga compuesta hasta la fecha por la banda, está basada en el largo poema del mismo nombre (traducido al español como "Rima del Anciano Marinero) escrito por Samuel Taylor Coleridge a finales del siglo XVIII.
