Sonata Arctica

Sonata Arctica es una banda finlandesa de power metal. Fue fundada en 1996 y bajo el nombre de Tricky Beans, que después en 1997 cambió a Tricky Means, y en 1999 finalmente se le cambió el nombre a Sonata Arctica. Muchas veces la gente se confunde, pero en realidad sí es Arctica y no Artica. Como pueden escuchar, este grupo es muy parecido a Stratovarius, pues fue fuertemente influenciado por este grupo.

En sus inicios tocaban Rock'n'Roll y no tenían nada que ver con el estilo que tienen ahora, así la banda fue evolucionando. Se le cambió el nombre dos veces y se fueron influenciando por Stratovarius y se inclinaron por el power metal, cambiando totalmente. Así se fueron dando a conocer, en 1999, la banda grabó un demo titulado FullMoon, compuesto por Tony Kakko, el guitarrista Jani Liimatainen, el bajista Janne Kivilahti y el batería Tommy Portimo. El demo fue enviado al sello Spinefarm y la banda cambió definitivamente su nombre a Sonata Arctica y poco despues un llegó un contrato de grabación. Con ese demo dieron su primer gran paso a lo que son hoy.

De seguro no han escuchado mucho sobre este grupo, pero apenas esta tomando fuerza en latinoamerica, y según tengo entendido en es suramerica en donde mas se les conocen.
