Are you gonna be my girl - Jet

Tal vez muchos no hayan oido mucho de este grupo (Jet), tal vez si hayan oido muy remotamente esta pieza, Are you gonna be my girl? El grupo es originario de Australia si no me equivoco, y llamó la atención del mundo musical y rockero el año en que salieron a la luz pública precisamente con este hit. El grupo tiene muchas influencias del rock viejo como podrán ver en el video, influencias tipo Rolling Stones, Queen, The Beatles, The Kinks y otras donde su sonido era meramente simple, junto con elementos como la pandereta (no se si existe otro nombre para esto), armónica y bueno, la voz de el mae, que aunque no es un cantante de opera, le cae como anillo al dedo al grupo.

Con respecto al video, podemos ver la nota o ride de estos maes, tipicos maes con pelo largo a los hombros, ropa desaliñada y dandole a sus intrumentos como se debe. El disco del que sale esta pieza se llama Let Go, y personalmente se los recomiendo especialmente por las piezas que siguen esta misma linea, hay unas suavesonas que no me cuadran mucho, pero las demás estan en todas; es casi imposible no mover aunque sea un pie al ritmo de la musica.

Mr Jones - Counting Crows

Mr Jones interpretada por el grupo Counting Crwos salió de su disco August and Everything After en el 94, se convertiría en el mayor éxito de esta banda siendo aun asi su primer radio hit. Mr Jones se convertiría en uno de los mayores exitos de los años 90 del rock alternativo y todavía un gran clásico el cual casi nadie puede decir que no la ha escuchado al menos una vez.

Algo curioso con este grupo fue que, misteriosamente, su éxito coincidió con la muerte de Kurt Cobain, lider de la banda Nirvana, sepa Dios por que....

Would - Alice in Chains

Would saldría del disco de Alice in Chains llamado Dirt y se convertiria en uno de sus mayores exitos de toda su carrera, y de la música grunge, de los años 90. Sobre esta canción en realidad no encontré mucho, pero si se que fue escrita por el guitarrisa de grupo, Jerry Cantrell y fue inspirada por la muerte del cantante del grupo Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood. Irónico es que, años mas tarde, su propio compañero de banda y cantante del grupo, Layne Staley, también moriría por una sobredosis.

Judith - A Perfect Circle (Version sin censura)

Maes un dia estaba yo viendo tele, en eso que pongo Mtv y empieza a sonar esta pieza... mae.. yo solo hice asi -> O_O WTF!! Este es uno de los pocos grupos rockeros nuevos de esta década que yo digo ha valido la pena. A Perfect Circle, una banda liderada por Maynard James Keenan, también líder de la ya conocida banda TOOL, es una banda de rock alternativo por decirlo asi, que canta desde rock pesadito (pero no mucho, como Judith por ejemplo), hasta rock un poco mas melódico calmado y alternativo. Con su primer disco Mer de Noms fueron un total éxito, medio mundo consiguió el susodicho disco (yo lo bajé jeje) y todavia sigue siendo su mejor producción.

La canción Judith si me permiten decirlo es una genialidad, y ver al grupo tocandola en este video es aún mejor, se ve el poder que le aplica cada uno de sus integrantes, el mae de la bateria se revienta las venas dandole a esos platillos, y el guitarrista ni que decirlo, es más, se dice que esta canción le salió a este ultimo mae en una sola sentada.. increible! El video los muestra a todos como en una gran estudio, todos tocando como si fuera la ultima vez que fueran a tocar, cabe también decir que (la) bajista es mujer, lo cual le añade un toque atractivo al grupo, y la verdad es que se la juega.

La letra de la canción es dura dura, Maynard se la dedicó a la mamá luego de que esta tuviera un accidente y quedara confinada a una silla de ruedas para el resto de su vida "...Praise the one who left you Broken down and paralyzed, He did it all for you..."

Jeremy - Pearl Jam

De uno de los mejores albumes de Grunge de los 90s (y de la historia), el TEN de Pearl Jam, sale este sencillo llamado Jeremy, sencillo que fue nominado no solo por su canción, si no también por este su video, el cual de hecho mejor video del año 93.

La canción y video están inspiradas en un articulo de un periódico donde contaba que un chavalo de 16 años se pegó un tiro en su cabeza al frente de sus compañeros de clase, tal y como lo hace el video, que la verdad es increible. Estas fueron las palabras de Eddie Vedder al respecto de la canción:

It came from a small paragraph in a paper which means you kill yourself and you make a big old sacrifice and try to get your revenge. That all you're gonna end up with is a paragraph in a newspaper...it does nothing...nothing changes. The world goes on and you're gone. The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself. Increible, luego de este video, Pearl Jam no lanzó un video más, hasta 5 años después, que lanzaron Do The Evolution (muy seguramente futuro material de este blog).

I wanna be Sedated - Ramones

Ramones fue una influyente banda de Punk rock formada en Forest Hills, en la comuna de Queens, Nueva York, Estados Unidos en 1974. Fueron los pioneros del naciente Punk Rock, un sonido simple, minimalista y repetitivo que evitaba la musicalidad de los solos de guitarra de las bandas de los 70. Consistía básicamente en un sonido crudo, rápido y directo con influencias directas en los grupos rockabilly de los 50, pero fundamentalmente de bandas como New York Dolls, MC5 y The Stooges.

Esta banda fue la que lideró el movimiento Punk en Nueva York, al punto que muchas veces se la considera la fundadora musical del Punk Rock como también Sex Pistols en Inglaterra. En CBGB compartían escenario con Television, The Heartbrakers, Blondie y Richard Hell.

El grupo se disolvió en 1996, luego de culminar el ultimo show de su gira mundial en Argentina para luego retirarse en el festival Lollapalooza. (wikipedia)

"I wanna be sedated" fue escrita por Joey Ramone mientras era intervenido en un hospital ya que accidentalmente derramo agua irviendo sobre si mismo, y logicamente queria permanecer Sedado.

El sencillo es de 1978 y apareció en el cuarto album de la banda Road to Ruin.

Highway To Hell - ACDC

Highway to Hell es el séxto álbum de estudio de la banda de rock duro australiana AC/DC que salió a la venta en 1979. También es el quinto álbum de estudio internacional de la banda y todas sus canciones fueron escritas por Angus Young, Malcolm Young, y Bon Scott.

Se consideró el álbum más popular de la banda hasta el momento, y ayudó a incrementar la popularidad de ésta considerablemente, posicionándola para el éxito de su álbum Back In Black el año siguiente. Fue el último álbum grabado con el vocalista Bon Scott antes de que este muriese en febrero de 1980.Highway to Hell fue el primer álbum de AC/DC que no fue producido por Harry Vanda y George Young.

En Australia, salió a la venta con una cubierta ligeramente diferente. A diferencia de la internacional, tenía llamas en la guitarra. En Alemania del Este se cambiaron los diseños de las carátulas debido a un descontento de las autoridades ya que la imagen de la portada era las de los miembros de la banda envueltos en llamas. Aces High ( Live )- Iron Maiden

Aces High fue escrita por Steve Harris, siendo el onceavo sencillo y el primer sencillo de Powerslave(1984).

Este disco fue grabado por los integrantes del grupo (Steve Harris, Bruce Dickinson, Nicko McBrain, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith) a raíz de unas vacaciones que pasaron en Egipto, ya que quedaron impresionados por la majestuosidad de las pirámides. La primera canción que apareció con esta temática fue Revelations (Piece of Mind), que se considera una protosecuela de Powerslave.

Este disco está basado en varias anécdotas que sucedieron a lo largo de la historia. Un ejemplo de esto es la primera canción del LP "Aces High" (Steve Harris), que esta dedicada a todos aquellos pilotos ingleses que murieron defendiendo Inglaterra de la invasión de la Alemania Nazi. También en este LP experimentaron la composición de las primeras canciones de larga duración como puede ser "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner".

Esta última pista, que todavía permanece como la más larga compuesta hasta la fecha por la banda, está basada en el largo poema del mismo nombre (traducido al español como "Rima del Anciano Marinero) escrito por Samuel Taylor Coleridge a finales del siglo XVIII.

November Rain - Guns N' Roses

Maaanda la parada que no haya puesto nada de Guns hasta ahora... Y creo que sera bueno empezarlo de una vez con su canción más famosa diria yo (y video también).

Axel Rosae (que estaba y esta bien pijeado) me imagino que fue la ente detrás de este video, asiq ue si alguien lo entendió.. PODRIA EXPLICARMELO??!! Aqui hay unas varas tan sin sentido que no se.. tan solo se los pongo asi.. en la escena d ela boda, muy bonita la iglesia, la vara el montonn de gente, flores, la iglesia inmensa.. y ene so Slash decide salir a echarse un solito.. y la iglesia es chirisquitica y no hya ni un solo caro... o sea.,.. en que llegaron los invitados y todo el mundo? jaja no creo que Axel quiera andar a caballo (jeje ya al rato si sale la iglesia de verdad)

Otra vara que no me explico.. es.. de que diablos se murió la vieja?? le dio neumonia por la lluviecita de noviembre? WTF!

Jajaj.. pero no hay uite esa escena (del solo de Slash) y todo el video les quedó tuanis y quedará para la posteridad como uno de los mejores videos de la mejor época del Rock... los 90!

Este video es UNA RELIQUIA. Es si no me equivoco el seundo video de Green Day ya a nivel comercial. este video, de la canción Basket Case presenta a lso integrantes como miembros de un manicomio que como si nada empiezan a tocar la guitarra, bajo y bateria.

Ahora que lo veo, me hace mucha gracia porque los gestos que hace el cantante parecen ser como los de un retrasado mental, y me hace gracia porque yo pensé que eran adrede por el video, pero no... jaja.. el mae canta asi! jaja

Integrado por Billie Joe Armstrong: (Guitarra, Voz principal), Mike Dirnt (Bass, Coros) y Tré Cool (Bateria, Coros), nos traen este video, que por si no lo sabias:

1.- Fue filmado en un manicomio de verdad (a petición de Green Day)

Killing in the Name Of.. fue el primer sencillo que Rage sacó de su album Eponymus , y es conocido por ser uno de sus más grandes éxitos en su carrera musical. (Que por desgracia, ya terminó años atras)

Para los que no conocen mucho de Rage Against The Machine, aqui les va un poco de historia (tomado de Wikipedia)

Rage Against the Machine (Rage o R.A.T.M.) es un grupo musical estadounidense de rapcore, constituido en el año 1990 por Tom Morello y Zack de la Rocha. Junto con Tim Commerford y Brad Wilk, el grupo tocó durante toda la década de los años 90 hasta su disolución en 2000.

Su estilo siempre se ha caracterizado por la rotundidad de sus letras y por su claro posicionamiento en contra del capitalismo y la globalización. De tendencias políticas de extrema izquierda, R.A.T.M. destacó, además, por sus múltiples iniciativas de protesta y solidaridad con distintos movimientos de reivindicación sociales y musicales. En los días posteriores a los atentados del 11 de septiembre, las emisoras de radio estadounidenses habrían censurado al grupo por alentar el antipatriotismo.

Musicalmente, Rage Against the Machine se caracteriza por mezclar el rock duro, apoyado en los solos de guitarra de Tom Morello, con la lírica rapera de Zack de la Rocha. Pues con respecto a esta canción, dice Thom Yorke que la escribió estando en la universidad, y que lo hizo porque andubo y aduvo detrás de una chavala, y que no se decidía hasta que un dia se atrevió. Dice también que ya que esta canción salió a principios de los 90's, tenía un gran problema, y era expresar sus sentimientos de amor hacia otra persona, sin que sonara extraño y que se pudiera tocar en Hard Rock... por lo visto solucionó el problema... y de qué forma! One - Metallica

Del exitoso album And Justice For All.. sale este, que fuera su primer sencillo titulado ONE (".. Now the world is gone I'm just one .."). Lanzada al público en 1989, One se ha convertido en todo un clásico del heavy-metal. Con respecto al video, este fue el primer video que se creó para una pieza de Metallica, lo despelote es que con esto se conviertieron en una banda más comercial (cosa con lo cual estaba en contra) y muchos fans se sintieron traicionados por lo mismo. El video la verdad es una genialidad también, empieza con escenas de la película 'Johnny Got His Gun' con escenas basadas en la Primera Guerra Mundial, que se van mezclando con la de los integrantes del grupo, tocando en una simple cochera, con sus mechas y ropas de siempre, practicamente, todo, a blanco y negro. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

Que tal gente, para empezar este blog, lo hacemos con un hito del Rock y más que todo del Grunge (variación del grunge que predominó a principio de la década de los 90's), y es Smells like Teen Spirit, primer sencillo del album Nevermind (1991) del grupo Nirvana.

En lo que respecta al video, ya más de 15 años después se le considera uno de los mejores videos de la historia, y el mejor (sino es que uno de los mejores) de los 90's, no solo por el video en sí, sino por lo que esta canción y video iniciaron en aquella época, convirtiéndos en un himno de la Generación X. En su año ganó el mejor video de un Artista Nuevo y mejor video de un Grupo Alternativo. (D'nnis)
